The Hornemann Institute of the HAWK University of Applied Sciences and Arts Hildesheim/Holzminden/Göttingen is offering the following internet-based learning courses in the winter semester:
- Mould and written material - consolidating wood. Possibilities and limits of structural consolidation
- Church interiors and their climate. Heating, ventilating, protecting furnishings
- Safe handling of contaminated cultural artefacts
- Microbial infestation of art and cultural artefacts
- Photography as a tool for documentation and investigation
- Saccharide binders and adhesives
- Basics of wood science. Properties - use - damage - examination methods explained using the example of oak wood
- Damage to cultural artefacts caused by salts
- How should we act? Theory and ethics of restoration and their significance for practice (Renaissance and Baroque periods)
- Restoration theories and methods from 1945 to the present day
- Conservation of wax moulages
- Analyses of transparent coatings on furniture and wooden objects
- Conservation of Globes New:

From the winter semester 2025/26, we will also be awarding ECTS for the first time for the courses "Mould and Documents" and "Conservation of Globes": Participants have the choice between our previous qualified certificate or a HAWK certificate as a microcredential.
