Social Inequalities in Health: from Data to Action

Social inequalities in health are a challenge and a call to action. Understanding and addressing factors driving health inequalities is essential for preserving Europe’s social model and ensuring competitiveness.

25 - 26 September 2025 | online

Integrated policy responses are necessary at EU, national and sub-national levels based on a strong dialogue between policymakers across sectors, public health experts, civil society, and citizens, including those from marginalised groups.

To advance these policies, EuroHealthNet is organising a high-level European policy debate hosted by MEP Vytenis Andriukaitis, on behalf of the European Parliament Interest Group on Health Inequalities, Risk Factors and Prevention, followed the next day by a webinar to discuss national and subnational data and practices in more depth.

These events will also mark the launch of the new report on ‘Social Inequalities in Health’ by EuroHealthNet and the Centre for Global Health Inequalities Research (CHAIN).

Both debates will take place at a crucial time for Europe and will feed into key ongoing EU strategic dossiers such as:

  • The new EU Anti-Poverty Strategy and Action Plan on the European Pillar of Social Rights
  • Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan, Healthier Together Initiative, the new EU Cardiovascular Health Plan
  • The future of EU funds for health promotion and social inclusion in 2028-2034
