World Conference Center Bonn (WCCB)
Platz der Vereinten Nationen 2
The WCCB, a modern conference centre complex, is located right beside the river Rhine in the heart of the “Federal Quarter”, the former district of parliament and government. The venue’s history directly links to the conference theme of democracy: It served as the home of the German Federal Parliament (the “Bundestag”) between 1992 and 1999. The WCCB is in close walking distance to Bonn’s United Nations Campus and the so-called “Museum Mile” - home of the Federal Art and Exhibition Halls and German Haus der Geschichte (“House of History”).
Bonn, located in western Germany at the gateway of the romantic Middle Rhine Valley, was the capital of the Federal Republic of Germany and seat of government for almost 50 years. It still hosts a number of federal ministries and agencies as Germany’s second seat of government. The 2,000 year-old university city, dating back to Roman times, has established itself as a centre for science, sustainability and global development and is home to a number of organisations in these areas. Bonn has been a United Nations City since 1996. It is the native city of Ludwig van Beethoven and celebrates the 250th birthday of the composer in 2020.
Fly to Cologne/Bonn International Airport. The express bus line SB 60 will bring you to the city centre in roughly 25 minutes.
Alternatively, Bonn can be easily reached via train from Frankfurt/Main Airport and Dusseldorf Airport.
Bonn Central Station can be reached by both long-distance and regional lines of Deutsche Bahn national railways.
